5/23/2023 0 Comments The hot gate by john ringo![]() ![]() The narration continues to be first rate and made it OK to just exist in Ringo's universe for a while, but I think one more strike and I might need to close this "gate." I enjoyed the first two books enough that I am OK that I listened to this one and will certainly try out the fourth book - I assume there will be at least one more book as this in no way wrapped up a trilogy. During the battle the story shifts abruptly to Butch, the space welder introduced in prior books, for a bit and then. The second story is the massive space battle seems to just happen toward the end of the book and Comet and her storyline mostly fades away. OK, that could have been fairly interesting for a chapter or two, but it goes on and on and on and (amazingly enough) doesn't really reach any sort of satisfying conclusion. The first story dealt with "Comet" Parker, a very interesting powerful female character dealing with working in a macho Latin American environment. There seemed to be two (or three?) very disjointed stories within this book and only one of them is interesting. ![]() The last 20% of the book is very exciting but I'm not sure it is worth the buildup. ![]()

5/23/2023 0 Comments Oklahoma! by Richard Rodgers![]() ![]() The value of music catalogs is at an all-time high, thanks to a group of investors including Universal Music and Hipgnosis that have paid top dollar for the rights to popular songs that churn out a steady flow of payments from streaming, film use and marketing campaigns. That prescience is still paying off today. Now, nearly 80 years after their first collaboration, their song catalog is worth $350 million, ranking it as the world’s third most valuable, behind John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s Beatles catalog ($500 million) and Michael Jackson’s roster of hits like “Billie Jean” and “Smooth Criminal” ($375 million). ![]() The duo started a music publishing company in 1943, the same year they wrote Oklahoma!, to monetize their success. ![]() 5/22/2023 0 Comments The glass spare![]() A Curious Tale of the In-Between (September 1, 2015) The Peculiar Night of the Blue Heart (September 13, 2016) The Girl with the Ghost Machine (June 6, 2017) Dreaming Dangerous. My preferred method: Every other oil change (15K-20K miles) Remove drain plug and drop 7qts from warm transmission, Spin on new external filter (exchanging magnet) and. The name he was given was just incredibly disappointing and I personally don't think it fit him well at all. Here I agree wholeheartedly with the decision the filmmakers made in leaving him with just his nickname. I will say, however, that I was sorely disappointed with Mullet Fingers' true name. At this point in time, I am unsure whether that is because I decided to watch the movie and read the book together and that led me to compare the fast pace of the movie to the slowness the book expressed due to the extra scenes which did not make it into the film or if it is simply because the book dragged a bit. As I grew closer and closer to the end, I found myself feeling as though I just wasn't getting there fast enough. ![]() In a way, I've gotten rather good at determining why something might have been cut out of the movie adaptation-whether I agree with it or not-and there were many things I noticed in this book that had not made it into the movie that just made sense.Īll in all, it was a pretty good book. When it came to Hoot, I find that I'm honestly in a place where I don't quite know which was better. No matter what, you always find yourself wondering which is better.
